1920’s Sterling Silver Uranium Glass Art Deco Necklace!

(Click HERE to see it in the shop!)

This is by far one of the most beautiful necklaces I have ever seen. It’s stunning up close and an eye catcher from a distance. It appears to glow in the sun light. It appears bright yellow, or bright green depending on the environment.

This necklace is two tone marked Sterling Silver, on the original crinkle chain with original clasp. It is a very dainty chain but the pendent itself is sturdy. It’s in remarkable condition for it’s age.

It is approx. 16 inches long. Pendant is 1 1/4 inches long with bale and 5/8 inches wide. Center gem is a brilliant yellow green Uranium glass stone that will glow neon green under “Black Light”. Stone is a 10 x 8 emerald cut and is surrounded in this sterling frame with a hint of pink leaves on the left and right side.

Uranium glass was once made into tableware and household items as well as jewelry, but fell out of widespread use when the availability of uranium to most industries was sharply curtailed during the Cold War in the 1940s to 1990s. Most such objects are now considered antiques or retro-era collectibles, although there has been a minor revival in art glassware, and a major revival of Uranium, also known as Vaseline Glass, Jewelry.

NEWS! NEWS! NEWS!

vintage-wallpaper-frieze

As promised we have some News to share!

We have a new member of the Goat & Co Team!

Diana has recently joined out team! We are so happy to have her! Diana will be taking over the reigns from me in the coming months! But don’t worry I will be around! I will be around until she gets settled to help with the transition, and as an adviser. It will take Diana a bit to get the swing of all our Trade Shows, Fair and Craft Shows schedules and such (The Season is almost on us!).

One of our most exciting bit of news is Diana will be moving, and reopening our Brick and Mortar Store! (We are working hard on the location, and details.) We will keep you posted!

So, I would like to personally welcome Diana to Goat & Co!

In the coming months you will be hearing from her, at the moment she is out of state (Lucky! Right?!). When she returns I will get her to properly introduce herself.

In the mean time as always please don’t hesitate to E-mail or call me with any questions or concerns!

Aurora Borealis

Who Loves AB jewelry? We do!

Aurora Borealis, often notated as “AB”, is a used to describe a kind of finish added to crystal beads. Aurora Borealis was first developed by the Swarovski company in the mid 1950’s.  Crystals are coated with a thin layer of metal, which is then vaporized in a vacuum, leaving behind a shimmering rainbow finish. Named after the spectacular play of the northern lights, Swarovski’s innovation quickly became a success worldwide. Modern techniques have taken over, however AB beads are still a popular and beloved fashion item.

Some of my favorite things ….

There have been so many things that have gone in and out of my shop. Today, a customer asked me what some of my favorite things in the shop were. I couldn’t answer! There are just too many things!

The first thing that comes to mind is my ring. It was the symbol of our store for a very long time. It was one of my most prized and, most beautiful, possessions. It was my Engagement ring. There came a time when looking at it was to painful, so it was sold to a very nice couple who gave it a loving home.

I have always loved  Aurora Borealis and the beautiful clasps that almost always accompanied these beads. They go with anything, and the sparkle is inspiring.

I have no idea what it is about this necklace but I just fell in love with it the moment I saw it!

This Sunflower pin was just so stunning. You know the worst part of owning a store? You want to keep all the merchandise. This thing didn’t even need light to sparkle.

Cutest cookie cutters, ever, right? Hahha! I love that these could be used for baking, or used as kitchen decor…again more items I have to keep telling myself to stay away from… or they may come home with me. The pipe frosting tool always gets my attention.

In Store now!

Another Aurora Borealis with beautiful rhinestone clasps that I just cant get enough of! We sort of call this one The Chameleon, haha. As you can see, in different types of light some of the beads look yellow, gold, PINK, or all of those. We has someone walk around asking people what color they thought the beads were. As it turns out, no one knows. hahah!

In Store Now!!

I’m a sucker for old Trains. Hahaha. We have a lot of different Trains post cards in the store. What I would really like to find is a post card of the Blue Comet for my personal collection (anyone? hahaha!). I love post cards, and the love of trains is my Grandfather’s fault. haha!
